(OPAM) Organisation for HIV Positive African Men, (OPAM) a Pan London Voluntary Organisation started in 2000, by a group of African men who are HIV positive, living in UK, with specific focus on the London area. OPAM is the only existing peer support organisation for African Men living with or affected by HIV/AIDS in UK. The remit is broad and encompasses not only the needs of people living with HIV/AIDS infection, but also aspects of Primary and Secondary Prevention, Education and Sexual health.

Management

The organisation is managed by a team of seven Executive members responsible for the overall management and provision of strategic management. The other day today activities and operations are the responsibility of the Coordinator who is accountable to the management.

OPAM’s Network

OPAM is a member of several forums including the African HIV policy forum (AHPN), Hackney African forum, the Newham Health Forum, Camden and Islington and Hammersmith and Fulham. The organisation also subscribes to the British HIV association (BHIVA), The National council for voluntary organisations (NCVO), Evelyn Oldfield Unit and the SKEIN (Skills for Economic Inclusion Network) programme among others.

Partnership and Links

OPAM also has partnership arrangements in implementing different projects which include Hackney council for voluntary services (HCVS), Homerton University Hospital and several other African voluntary organisations with who we share the vision.
